Civil Air Patrol Fresno squadron 112 scheduled for in-person meeting May 6, 2021

Civil Air Patrol

Fresno, California

Commander Neil Kuykendall is very excited and enthusiastic to host the first in-person meeting since March 2020.

Local Civil Air Patrol leadership are looking for community support and leadership from the Central Valley to join their important mission to Teach, Coach, and Mentor.

It has been over one year since the local Civil Air Patrol group had an official face-to-face gathering for training, recognition, and organizational needs. Finally, the time has come to change that!

Most people may not realize that the workload on the senior members and the commander never stopped during this time; some would even argue that the workload has increased significantly for this all volunteer group.

The Squadron team used innovation and forward-thinking to keep things functional and compliant, as regulations have been changing almost daily.

They have accomplished a lot with minimal resources, and the local community is who will benefit the most from these selfless efforts. . .

Have you ever tried to operate a business with very low or zero budget?

Many challenges come up from day to day needs,

to big things, such as paying the rent for a building. . . .

True leadership creates solutions; not excuses.

This has been the case with the senior members at Squadron 112. They have stood strong to show the youth cadets how to persevere and build resilience in the toughest times.

Be the difference!

Welcome to the Civil Air Patrol Fresno Composite Squadron 112 website.

If you are wondering who we are and what we do, I hope that our website will provide answers to these questions and a look into our service to the Fresno and Central Valley area. Here is a brief review about us.

We are the Fresno area’s civilian side of the United States Air Force (USAF). We carry out missions assigned to us by the USAF, and other government agencies, in support of emergency services and disaster relief.

A few of these missions include Western Air Defense intercept training for pilots of the California Air National Guard 144th Fighter Wing; Predator Drone pilot training; locating and silencing activated aircraft, vessel, and personal beacons; and search and rescue efforts for downed aircraft, and missing or lost individuals.

We also work with FEMA and the California Office of Emergency Services to provide food distribution services during the COVID-19 pandemic, and aerial reconnaissance and damage assessment photography following disasters, including California’s devastating fires during recent years.

Our squadron also offers community outreach services to local educational institutions and educators supporting such topics as aviation, STEM, rocketry and aerospace, and cyber forensics. We offer flight opportunities to teachers and explore career opportunities with students in areas related to STEM, aerospace, and engineering, to name a few.

A major part of our program is devoted to our local youth, ages 12 to 21. We offer a military style, structured training program with the goal of facilitating the development of dynamic, productive citizens who will become our future leaders. We provide learning and training opportunities in areas such as leadership, emergency services, drill and ceremonies, character and ethical development, fitness, and life skills. Many of our cadets have been accepted to military academies over the years.

If, after reviewing our website, you are interested in more information on who we are and what we do, please contact us to explore your involvement opportunities.

Very respectfully,

Neil L Kuykendall, Lt Col, CAP
Commander, Fresno Composite Squadron 112
